How to calculate YouTube playlist length

  1. 01

    Copy the playlist link

Open the playlist on YouTube or YouTube Music and copy the address from your browser, or tap Share, then Copy link in the app.

  2. 02

    Paste it above

Paste the link into the box and press Calculate. Any link with “list=” works, even a video playing inside the playlist.

  3. 03

    Plan your watch time

See the total length, switch the playback speed, check the time between any two videos, and set a daily plan.

YouTube shows the video count, not the playlist length

YouTube shows how many videos a playlist has, but not how long it takes to watch. TubeKit adds it up for you and goes a step further.

Playlist length at 1.25x, 1.5x and 2x speed

Most people don't watch a long playlist at normal speed. Here is how much time each playback speed saves on playlists of common lengths. Paste your own playlist above to get the exact numbers, or enter any custom speed.

Playlist length1x1.25x1.5x1.75x2x
1 hour1:00:0048:0040:0034:1730:00
3 hours3:00:002:24:002:00:001:42:511:30:00

20 hours20:00:0016:00:0013:20:0011:25:4310:00:00

Watching at 1.5x turns a 10-hour course into 6 hours 40 minutes. At 2x, every playlist takes exactly half its normal length.

What people use a playlist calculator for

A playlist's duration tells you more than a number. It tells you whether you can finish before a deadline, a flight or a party.

Online courses and tutorials
Programming, design and language courses on YouTube often run 50 to 200 videos. Check the full YouTube playlist duration before you start, then use the daily plan to see when you'll finish.
Exam prep on a deadline
Have two weeks until the test? Enter how many minutes you can study each day and see whether a lecture playlist fits. Speed it up to 1.5x if it doesn't.
Music for an event or a trip
Make sure a party, workout or road-trip playlist lasts long enough, and see which songs are no longer available before you press play.
Catching up on a series
Fell behind on a podcast or a creator's series? Use the range calculator, a playlist time calculator for any stretch of videos, to see how long it takes from the episode you stopped at to the latest one.
