Cookie Policy
The cookies and browser storage TubeKit, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and YouTube use
Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar browser storage are used when you visit tubekit.app ("TubeKit"), who sets them and how you can control them.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep small pieces of data in your browser in the same way. TubeKit has no accounts, so none of these are used to sign you in.
Cookies and Storage Set by TubeKit
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
PARAGLIDE_LOCALE | Cookie | Remembers the site language | Up to 400 days |
theme | Local storage | Remembers your light or dark theme choice | Until you clear it |
tubekit:queue:* | Local storage | Remembers where you are in a shuffled or reversed playlist so you can pick up later (the last 20 playlists) | Until you clear it |
These are only used to make the site work the way you left it. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
Analytics Cookies
We use two analytics services to understand which tools are useful and where the site can be improved. Both set their own cookies.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are used, how visitors arrive and what kind of device they use. It sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity shows how visitors use our pages through usage statistics, heatmaps and session replays. It records interactions such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement. By default, Clarity masks sensitive text such as email addresses and numbers. It sets cookies such as _clck (up to 1 year), _clsk (1 day) and Microsoft cookies such as MUID and CLID (up to 1 year). See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Third-Party Cookies From YouTube
Pages that play videos, such as the playlist randomizer and the reverse playlist player, use an embedded YouTube player. YouTube sets its own cookies and similar storage when the player loads, for example to remember your playback settings, measure viewing and protect against abuse. These cookies are controlled by Google, not by us. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses cookies for details.
We do not use advertising cookies.
Managing Cookies
Most web browsers let you control cookies and site data through their settings. You can:
- Delete cookies and site data from your device
- Block all cookies, or only third-party cookies
- Use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on mentioned above
If you block or delete cookies and local storage, TubeKit's tools keep working. The site will forget your theme choice and where you were in a playlist.
