YouTube Timestamp Link Generator
Make a link that opens a YouTube video at the exact moment you want. Add one time or a whole list, and copy the links in one click.
How to link to a specific time in a YouTube video
- 1
Paste the video link
Copy the link from the address bar or the Share button and paste it in the first box.
- 2
Add the times
Type one time per line. Add a label after each time if you're making a list.
- 3
Copy the links
Each link opens the video at that moment. Copy one, all of them, or a ready-made list with labels.
YouTube timestamp link formats
The same video and time can be written in a few ways. All of them work.
| Type | Example | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Short (youtu.be) | youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=90 | Messages and social posts |
| Full (youtube.com) | youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=90s | Docs, emails and anywhere a full link looks clearer |
| Full (youtube.com) | youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=1m30s | Same as above, with the time in minutes and seconds |
| Embed | youtube.com/embed/dQw4w9WgXcQ?start=90 | Videos embedded on a website |
In a link the t value is in seconds, or in a form like 1m30s. Embeds use start= instead.
What people use timestamp links for
A timestamp saves the person you send it to from scrubbing through the video.
- Share the best part
- Send a friend straight to the moment worth watching, not the start of a long video.
- Study notes
- Turn a list of times from a lecture into clickable links for your notes.
- Comments and replies
- Point to the exact second you're talking about in a review, a bug report or a discussion.
- Your website
- Embed a video that starts at the right point instead of the intro.
Frequently asked questions
Paste the video link above, type the time and copy the link. On a computer you can also pause the video, press Share and tick Start at.
The YouTube app usually has no Start at option when you share. Copy the link from the app, paste it here with the time, and copy the new link back.
It's the start time. t=90 or t=1m30s both open the video 90 seconds in. Links made here use seconds, which every app understands.
Yes. Put one time per line, with an optional label after it, and copy all the links or a labeled list.
Pick Embed as the link type. It adds start= to the embed link, which is what YouTube's player uses.
Some apps strip the time when they shorten or preview a link. Try the full youtube.com link instead of youtu.be, and check that the time is shorter than the video.
Chapters come from a list of times in the description, starting at 0:00. The YouTube Description Extractor shows whether a video's timestamps count as chapters.
No. A clip is a short piece the viewer cuts out inside YouTube. A timestamp link opens the full video, starting at the time you choose.
